It's not the timeless tales of past,
Or legend scattered e'rywhere.
It's not how at the very last
They appeared from near nowhere.
Or how they killed without a thought,
But fought from deep within.
It's how they stayed till all was lost-
And still fought till they'd win.
It's not how big they are outside,
But how big is their heart,
But how they find a place to hide
Emotion when death parts.
And still they struggle all the time
With thoughts of friends long-lost,
And share it there, through song or rhyme,
About how much it cost.
And still they're pressing on through,
A light for all to see.
For freedom's not a virtue-
For all should end up free!
And when this peaceful time is passed
And a warrior should be needed,
We shall hope that, at long-last,
Our record should be heeded.
For a warrior's not all fighter,
But better as a friend.
A light inside shines brighter:
A warrior's what's within.
