'97 Drill Pictures

The '97 show featured classic '60 rock music from Jefferson Airplane, Iron Butterfly, and Procol Harum. (Sid and Tim liked this show a lot because they're really old!)
The first shots are from "White Rabbit," the drill ended with the rotating and expanding block shown in the fourth picture; which is the beginning of drum solo.
The band arrangements are all by Tom Wallace through Arrangers' Publishing, but we couldn't do a 60's show without "In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida" as the drum solo, so we asked our buddy Jan Verboom at Goddard H.S. to arrange it for us.
Jan gave us a terrific chart that was a real crowd pleaser.
The final shots are from the closer, where we used parts of "Whiter Shade of Pale" and "Tuesday Afternoon." The second shot below we referred to as the 'mega-block,' an attempt to cover the entire field with an 8 step block
(Chris Showalter's grandiose idea); suprisingly enough it actually worked.
The astro-turf field is Kansas State University, where it rained buckets on us. Thanks to Jan Rich for the photos. The others were taken at Neewollah in Independence, KS; but I can't remember who gave them to me to scan - my apologies, but thank you anyway.
