Scientific interests

Seismicity of Italy is discussed in the context of a geodynamic subduction model in the Western Mediterranean. Stress accumulation is compared with earthquake occurrence in the Apennines. The model is compatible with the geological data, the opening of the Tyrrhenian sea and the orogenesis of Apennines. Results improve our knowledge of seismic hazard. Seismological data are also presented.

I try to combine my research efforts in seismology to those of other related fields, like geology, geodynamics, and advanced computer modeling. Click here for latest papers.

A brief description

I am an Italian Physicist coming from Salerno. I've got a Ph.D. at the Earth Sciences Dept. at the University of Rome "La Sapienza" working most on geodynamical modeling of Italy. I am a senior researcher at the Istituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia. I happily teach to undergratuates and to graduates. Possible theses for undergraduate students are described here (in Italian).
