I haven't seen a lot of articles on magic as a replacement for technology.
I have seen a lot of meta-gaming where people have used 20th and 21st century ideas to create magical items. Examples would be land mines, magical cars, and such.
I haven't seen much, if anything, about the effect of low level permantent spells would have on a middle ages society.
