SINGAPORE WOMEN'S GROUP, JAKARTA



OBJECTIVES
The Singapore Women's Group in Jakarta is the focal point for Singapore women in Jakarta - a group that provides support through social and cultural interactions.

BACKGROUND
The SWG formed in 1987 was initiated by Mrs Peggy Desker (wife of the former Singapore Ambassador, Barry Desker) together with the wives of some of the Singapore Embassy staff. It has brought many Singaporeans ladies together and has helped to create sense of identity and community.

MEMBERSHIP
The SWG is open to the following categories :
1. Women who are Singapore Citizens.
2. Women who are married to Singapore Citizens.
3. Women who are former Singapore Citizens but had to give up their citizenship due to marriage but have retained links with Singapore.
Approval of membership will be at the sole discretion of the SWG executive committee.
