EPISODE: THE RAVEN

Airplane - Janeway says that Da Vinci conceived of an airplane centuries before one was actually built. (The Raven)

B'omar - Janeway negotiates with the B'omar to arrange passage through their space; the B'omar decide to let Voyager travel through their territory but have many guidelines Voyager must follow; the B'omar use a perimeter grid to identify and trace every vessel, object or particle of dust that crosses their borders; Gaumen refuses to let Voyager enter B'omar space to track Seven; they want Janeway to keep Voyager at least 5 light years away from their borders; they double the number of ships patrolling the border and increase the sensitivity of their perimeter grid by 36%; the B'omar destroy The Raven just after Tuvok and Seven are able to get out of the ship; a fleet of 68 B'omar ships is heading toward Voyager so Janeway orders Voyager out of B'omar space. (The Raven)

Borg - Seven starts to have flashbacks of being on a Borg vessel; she says that she wasn't traumatized by the Borg; she doesn't see them as threatening because she was raised by the Borg; while searching the Cargo Bay, Torres finds a Borg data-link that seems to be a succession of log entries written in Borg alphanumeric code; 13% of the Borg technology that he removed 3 weeks ago has regenerated in a matter of hours; every Borg ship is coded to emit a distinct resonance frequency to guide drones that have become separated from the collective. (The Raven)

Chadre-kab - Neelix says that a plate of his chadre-kab should satisfy most of her essential nutritional requirements while providing a pleasureable culinary experience; he prepares steamed chadre-kab because it will be easier on her stomach; the recipe has been in his family for years and is considered a delicacy among his people. (The Raven)

Dalmine Sector - The first Talaxians were assimilated by the Borg in the Dalmine Sector. (The Raven)

DaVinci - Janeway says that Da Vinci was always an inspiration to her because he was a prolific artist and a scientist as well; he conceived of an airplane centuries before one was actually built. (The Raven)

Deck 6 - The crew tracks Seven to Deck 6, Section 28 alpha; Tuvok takes a security team here and Chakotay seals off the deck; Seven enters the armory on Deck 6. (The Raven)

Deck 10 - Seven takes the turbo lift to Deck 10; she disables Tuvok's security team and moves toward Junction 32 alpha to access the shuttle bay; Chakotay tells Kim to reroute all available power to this deck. (The Raven)

Dumah(Mickey Cottrell) - Dumah is on one of the B'omar ships that Seven disables. (The Raven)

Flashbacks - The Doctor calls these hypnagogic regressions; he says that Seven is experiencing flashbacks as a result of her human physiology reasserting itself; she has a flashback of when the Borg attacked the ship that she and her parents were on. (The Raven)

Force field - When Chakotay erects a force field around the shuttle bay, Seven accesses the transporter controls and does a site-to-site transport; Seven erects a level 5 force field in the shuttle to keep Tuvok from attacking again. (The Raven)

Gaumen, Chancellor (Richard J. Zobel) - Gaumen is Chancellor to the B'omar; Janeway has him come on Voyager to try to arrange passage through B'omar space. (The Raven)

Genetic resequencing vector - The Doctor develops a genetic resequencing vector that should neutralize the nanoprobes in Seven's body but someone needs to get close enough to her to administer it. (The Raven)

Glycoproteins - The Doctor's nutritional requirements for Seven include 250 grams of glycoproteins consisting of 53% polypeptides and 26% fibrous glycogen. (The Raven)

Hansen, Annika (Erica Lynne Bryan) - Seven has flashbacks to when she was Annika Hansen and the Borg attacked the ship she and her parents were on; she remembers that she had her 6th birthday on the Raven. (The Raven)

Hansen, Mr. (David Anthony Marshall) - Seven sees a flashback of when the Borg attacked their ship and her parents scream at her to run and hide; the name of their ship was The Raven; her father did important experiements on the ship and had to travel a long way to get here. (The Raven)

Hansen, Mrs. (Nikki Tyler) - Seven sees a flashback of when the Borg attacked their ship and her parents scream at her to run and hide. (The Raven)

Nanoprobes - According to the Doctor, the dormant nanoprobes in Seven's body are reasserting themselves. (The Raven)

Nassordin - The B'omar will not let Voyager travel through the Agrat-Mot Nebula because it is a key resource in their trade negotiations with the Nassordin. (The Raven)

Perimeter grid - The B'omar use a perimeter grid to identify and trace every vessel, object or particle of dust that crosses their borders; after refusing to let Voyager enter their space, the B'omar increase the sensitivity of their perimeter grid by 36%; Tuvok believes that they may be able to get through the grid by recalibrating their shields to match its frequency. (The Raven)

Raven - Seven has a flashback which includes a shrieking raven pursuing her; in her personal log she describes a bird with black feathers, yellow eyes, a powerful triangular beak, and a wingspread of one and a half meters; it is a member of the Corvidae family. (The Raven)

Raven, The - This was the name of the Hansen's ship; Seven says that she and her parents lived here a long time and that her father did important experiments here; its registry number is NAR-3845; the B'omar attack the ship and most of the ship is destroyed when it falls from a cliff. (The Raven)

Resonance frequency - Every Borg ship is coded to emit a distinct resonance frequency to guide drones that have become separated from the collective; the resonance signal on the Raven has been active since the ship was assimilated. (The Raven)

Shuttle bay - Seven is able to bypass the force field around the shuttle bay by performing a site-to-site transfer; Chakotay seals the launch doors, but Seven takes the shuttle right through them. (The Raven)

Shuttlecraft - Seven uses a site-to-site transport to get aboard the shuttle; when Chakotay seals the launch doors, she takes the shuttle right through them; Seven remodulates the shuttle's shield harmonics so that Voyager can't lock a tractor beam on the shuttle; she heads towards B'omar space, but masks the shuttle's ion trail so that Voyager can't follow her; Tuvok and Paris are able to cross the perimeter grid undetected by recalibrating their shields to match the grid's frequency; Seven disables their shuttle after Tuvok beams over to her shuttle. (The Raven)

Species 218 - The Borg call Talaxians Species 218. (The Raven)

Species 3259 - The Borg call Vulcans Species 3259. (The Raven)

Talaxian - Chadre-kab is a delicay among Talaxians; The Borg call Talaxians Species 218; the Talaxians biological and technological distinctiveness was added to the Borg when a small freighter containing a crew of 39 was assimilated in the Dalmine Sector; Seven says that their dense musculature made them excellent drones. (The Raven)

Tractor beam - Seven remodulates the shuttle's shield harmonics so that Voyager can't lock a tractor beam on the shuttle. (The Raven)

Tritanium - The tritanium decay on the ship that Tuvok and Seven find suggests that it has been there for nearly 20 years. (The Raven)

USS Voyager - The B'omar decide to allow Voyager to travel through B'omar space but require that they not exceed Warp 4, they keep their weapons systems offline, they avoid any unnecessary scans, they not conduct surveys of any kind, they make no attempt to explore B'omar space, and they avoid communication with non-military craft; the course the B'omar have plotted for Voyager to follow will take week or months for them to travel; the course would avoid all populated systems and industrial areas; there are 17 checkpoints at which the B'omar want Janeway to submit Voyager for inspection; Janeway takes Voyager into B'omar space to find Seven, Tuvok and Paris. (The Raven)

Vulcan - The Borg call Vulcans Species 3259; their enlarged neocortex produces superior analytical abilities. (The Raven)

Vulcan neck pinch - Seven uses a Vulcan neck pinch on Tuvok to render him unconscious. (The Raven)
