EPISODE: THE CLOUD

A-koo-chee-moya - Chakotay calls upon this person to help Janeway find her animal guide. (The Cloud)

Akoonah - This device is used in place of psycho-active herbs to facilitate the search for an animal guide. (The Cloud)

Animal guide - A Native American tradition in which an animal acts as a person's counselor and guides and accompanies that person through life; an animal guide doesn't define who a person is, but simply chooses to be with someone; it would offend an animal guide to speak its name; Chakotay practices this tradition and helps Janeway contact her own animal guide; Chakotay says that this is what Carl Jung thought he invented when he came up with his active imagination technique in 1932; An animal guide is contacted by using the contents of a medicine bundle; Torres tried to kill her animal guide. (The Cloud)

Bantan - This is one of the dishes Neelix serves to the crew; he says it is a little on the spicy side but as long as you don't eat any of the little pink things you'll be fine. (The Cloud)

Blackbird's wing - This is one of the items in Chakotay's medicine bundle. (The Cloud)

Circulatory system - Chakotay determines that the swirling energy currents that Voyager has detected are really part of the lifeform's circulatory system. (The Cloud)

Class 4 microprobe - Voyager launches this microprobe as a distraction so that they can manuever the ship into the breach. (The Cloud)

Coffee - Janeway asks Neelix for this but Neelix only had his "even-better-than-coffee-subtitute" made from the protenitious seed he discovered on an expedition. (The Cloud)

Deuterium - Voyager vents this into space after it is hit by the multipolar charges of the lifeform. (The Cloud)

Energy barrier - This barrier blocks Voyager's way to the rich deposit of omicron particles in the nebula; it is 50 meters deep and is a natural phenomenon; Voyager gets through the barrier by using a 4 second burst of maximum thrusters. (The Cloud)

Falata onion crisps - This is one of the dishes that Neelix serves to the bridge crew during their second encounter with the lifeform. (The Cloud)

Fin - Gaunt Gary asks Kim if he wants to bet a fin on the pool game; Paris tells Kim that he thinks this is some kind of old Scandanavian currency. (The Cloud)

Gaunt Gary (Larry Hankin) - Character in Paris's holodeck program of Sandrine's; Paris tells Kim that they say Gaunt Gary hustled Willie Moscani himself at Ames pool hall in New York City in 1953. (The Cloud)

Holodeck program Paris 3 - Paris's program for Sandrine's. (The Cloud)

Ilis pate - This is one of the dishes that Neelix serves to the bridge crew after their during their second encounter with the lifeform. (The Cloud)

Interstellar dust - The magnetic field from Voyager's impulse engines are attracting this dust which is causing the density to decrease. (The Cloud)

Jupiter Station - The Doctor says that he was programmed at Jupiter Station holoprogram center by Doctor Zimmerman (The Cloud)

Lizard - Janeway's animal guide is a lizard. (The Cloud)

Magnicide dust - This dust was building up on the outer rim of the energy barrier preventing Voyager from getting back through the barrier. (The Cloud)

McAllister, James Mooney - Kim's roommate at the Academy who never slept because he studied algorithims till dawn; he got Kim through 4th year quantum chemistry. (The Cloud)

Medicine bundle - Chakotay shows his medicine bundle to Janeway in order to help her find her animal guide; Chakotay's medicine bundle contains a blackbird's wing, a stone from the river, and an akoonah. (The Cloud)

Morale officer - Neelix appoints himself morale officer after Voyager was in a freefall during its second encounter with the lifeform. (The Cloud)

Multipolar charges - Voyager was hit by these charges when they re-entered the lifeform; the shield were unable to compensate for these charges because their polarity were rotating so rapidly. (The Cloud)

Nebula - Voyager detects a rich deposit of omicron particles 64 million kilometers inside the nebula; the nebula is 7 au's in diameter and sensors show intermittent gamma and thermal emissions. (The Cloud)

Nucleogenic beam - Torres determines that sending out this beam along the edges of the breach should promote regeneration in the lifeform. (The Cloud)

Nucleogenic peptide bonds - Torres analyzes some of the matter that is sticking on the hull and sees that these bonds are present; this indicates that the matter is organic. (The Cloud)

Nucleogenic radiation - Torres determines that this radiation ought to assist the life form in its healing process. (The Cloud)

Nuwonga - Chakotay says that the crew is going through "nuwonga" or a period of mourning. (The Cloud)

Omicron particles - These particles are detected in the nebula; Voyager wants to collect these particles to provide an additional antimatter energy reserve. (The Cloud)

Photon torpedoes - Voyager has 38 photon torpedoes (The Cloud)

Pokatah - Chakotay says that the bear has great pokatah and that it is a very strong animal. (The Cloud)

Positive ions - Voyager releases this through the nacelles in order to repel some of the interstellar dust. (The Cloud)

Psycho-active herbs - Chakotay's ancestors used these to assist in their vision quests for an animal guide; scientists have found more modern ways to facilitate the search for animal guides so now an akoonah is used instead. (The Cloud)

Reaction control thrusters - Janeway has Paris use these in drift mode only in order to navigate Voyager into the random eddies of the lifeform. (The Cloud)

Ricky (Angela Dohrmann) - Character in Paris's holodeck program of Sandrine's; Paris includes her in all of his holograph programs. (The Cloud)

Sandrine (Judy Geeson) - She is the owner of Sandrine's in France; Sandrine is part of Paris's holodeck program. (The Cloud)

Sandrine's - Paris's holodeck program 3; he spent a great deal of his second semester at the Academy at Sandrine's when he found the place after his pocket was picked at the harbor; the owner is Sandrine and the place has been in her family for over 600 years; the pool table at Sandrine's attracts the world's greatest hustlers throughout the centuries. (The Cloud)

Stone - Chakotay has a stone from the river in his medicine bundle. (The Cloud)

Stuffed cartaway leaves - This is one of the dishes that Neelix serves to the bridge crew during its second encounter with the lifeform. (The Cloud)

Suture - An ancient medical technique that was used before the advent of laser technology in which surgical fiber was used to stitch together a wound to allow it to heal naturally; the Doctor suggests that this technique be used to help heal the lifeform's wound. (The Cloud)

Takar lagar eggs - Neelix offers these to Janeway along with his "even better than coffee substitute". (The Cloud)

Torean ice storm - Paris says that it is as thick as a torean ice storm while Voyager is trying to navigate through the energy currents. (The Cloud)

Zimmerman, Louis - Louis Zimmerman is the holo-engineer who programmed the EMH at the Jupiter Station Holoprogram Center. (The Cloud)
