Robert W.Smeaton Is a Professional Engineer and has been an engineering editor for over 40 years and a control engineer for a number of years prior to that. His engineering experience was involve in a number of fields. As an editor, he was concerned with the intend meaning of the words in the manuscripts of many engineers who wrote for magazines and handbooks. He edited the Motor Application and Maintenance Handbook and the Switchgear and Control Handbook for Mc Graw-Hill Book Company. He wrote the Electrical Section for the Pit and Quarry Handbook, Forty-eight Edition. Hisengineering background helped him make sure that the author's words were not only correct but were clearly understandable. When he was over 90 years old.
