Chicago Marathon 2002!!!
Mike & Julie's run for the National Stroke Association
Sunday, October 13, 2002
We’d like to express our thanks to all our friends & family – your words of encouragement and support while training for the Chicago Marathon were amazing.  Thanks to your generosity in recognizing the National Stroke Association, we were able raise over $1200 to support NSA’s effort to “reduce the incidence and impact of stroke.”

Also, we’d be remiss if we didn’t extend a huge THANK YOU to our “curb crews,” (Terry, Ginny, Joan, Kathy, Colleen, Jeff, Katie, Mare & Dave), during the 26.2 miles.  Your cheers, hugs and Advil helped conquer this beast and set the tone for one of the most satisfying, thrilling experiences.

Many have asked if we "won" the marathon…well, no, (not technically anyway).  Before running the marathon, experienced runners told us, “just worry about finishing."  It was hard to grasp what they were trying to tell us...the elation and incredible feeling of just crossing the finish line.  Well, we're happy to report that we did indeed finish & we now understand…finishing IS winning, (unless, of course,  you happen to be Kenyan)...
