Shadrach has been one of the most encouraging and helpful people of all our African colleagues. His house is only 20 paces from ours and we enjoy playing with his children. He is the school bursar and a member of the church of Christ that meets across the street from the school. He has saved us from cultural faux pas and given us sound council on our activities this year. We are very grateful for this man!
Nathan and Shadrach: our beloved friend!
A night when Shadrach had us over for dinner. Up top with Mark is Robert, a preacher at a congregation near the school. He was really excited about this picture!

Running for exercise. This photo, from the top of the hill about 10 minutes walk from the school, overlooks the school campus (the buildings above Ben and Chris).
Denton, Mark, Herold, Ben, and Bob Sartoris camping at a site between Chepkong'ony and Eldoret town where we met Herold who is walking from Cape town to Jerusalem! Later a newspaper article said he was from Norway and his parents were missionaries in Uganda. It was really interesting to spend the evening with him!

Nathan and John Orambo are baptizing Felix Kursat. Felix and another student, Sharon, decided to become Christians on a Sunday when John Orambo, the school chaplin, was preaching at the church service the school conducts. We walked to the river, about 20 minutes away, along with many of the student body. John has been really nice and helpful. We have enjoyed getting to know him! Today we had a bible study with Felix and Sharon. We are reading through Mark and discussing it. We also have prayer time with them. We gave both students easy to read bibles that we picked up at Dan Bells's this weekend.

Hiking to the waterfall at Mt Elgon. Here is Nathan, Chris and then Fielden Allison, who lives there at Mt. Elgon. Then way down below you can make out Keith Gafner who is a missionary in Eldoret town and is helping to oversee our youth rally plans. The hike was great and the waterfall was so pretty. The Allison's said that we could not go on the hike during the rainy season because we would slide down the mountain!

It's funny the things you see in town. "Celine Dion Alive"
Chris and a Jewish lady. The mud is really slick.
