| ================== Woven Bags & Purses ================== I've made quite a few purses and bags on my loom. I make large handbags of heavy wool on a carpet warp warp. The material is woven 13" and 30" long. It is then folded in thirds to make front, back, and front flap. the strap is woven 2 1/2" wide, about 65" long. The strap is sewn from the botton of the bag along front and back sides on both sides of the purse. I usually line these with a heavy cotton fabric to reduce any chance of sagging from being overfilled. I also make smaller bags just the right size for your CD player (which a teenage friend pointed out). These are woven from the same matrial as above, 8" wide and 22" long. The straps are braided from the wool and warp yarn (again to reduce stretching of a wool strap) and sewn to both sides. Both can have a snap or button fastened on to keep the flap shut. Margaret |
