Apron Dowels
===========

We use 1/2 inch steel rods on our 60 inch loom and 3/8 inch aluminum rods on our 45 & 28 inch looms. These work fine but when doing work narrower than the reed width, I loosen the side cords or the rods can bow. I consider these minimum, yet to go thicker makes beaming more difficult. We use two rods on each apron and lace the bouts ( 2 inchs of warp ) to the rod with a long nylon cord. Works good! I cut the rods to just fit into the warp beam between the brakes, so when beaming I have to remember to watch carefully to see if they roll on without catching on anything.
