British Junior Open 1999 Results

Les résultats suivants concernent le Junior British Open qui vient de se dérouler à Sheffield du 2 au 7 janvier 1999. Ces résultats proviennent de Howard Harding de la Fédération Anglaise de Squash (SRA). The following results concern the British Junior Open played in Sheffield at the beginning of January 1999. The results are issued by Howard Harding from SRA.

On doit tout d'abord noter la victoire de Gregory GAULTIER qui remporte le tournoi des moins de 17 ans en battant un jeune anglais James WILLSTROP en 5 jeux. Gregory devient ainsi le deuxième français à remporter un titre au British après Isabelle STOHER qui a gagné il y a 5 ans le titre féminin en moins de 14 ans. First, for the French people, we are pleased to note that Gregory GAULTIER, the 16 year olf frenchman win the title in the men's U-17 against James WILLSTROP a 15 year old englisman in a 5 sets final. Gregory is becoming the second french to win a title in the british after the success of Isabelle STOHER in the women's U-14 5 years ago. BRAVO GREG.

On peut remarquer la défaite du champion du monde malaysien Hong Beng Hee victime de la grippe, we can remark the defeat of the world champion because an english's flu epidemic.

466 joueurs de 26 pays ont participé au plus grand tournoi au monde de jeunes. 248 anglais étaient présents, et surtout 40 égyptiens (2ème nation en nombre) qui ont rafflés 4 titres. 466 players from 26 countries competed in the wolrd's most prestigious junior squash event. 248 english were present, and 40 Egyptians who captured 4 titles .
