Ghandia Johnson Chat Transcript

SURVIVOR Host: There are lots of great questions, so let's get to as many as we can! If you're just joining us, we're chatting live with Survivor Ghandia Johnson. To ask Ghandia a question, type it in the space below and click "Ask the SURVIVOR." Hi, Ghandia! Thanks for spending some time to chat with us today. Are you ready for some questions?

Survivor Ghandia: Yes, I am! Bring it on!

Visitor: Were you surprised that Helen voted for you, or did you see it coming?

Survivor Ghandia: I saw that coming. I realized that Helen had to make a move strategically to assure her own self-preservation on the show. She's a competitor, and I respect her competitive streak. She was just doing what she had to do to stay in the game. If the situation were reversed, I would probably do the same thing.

Visitor: How do you feel about Helen after she voted you off?

Survivor Ghandia: I respect Helen. When I saw her comments last night on camera about how she believed me, that meant a lot to me. Helen was just doing what she had to do.

Visitor: Ghandia, now that you can think back, what would you have done differently to stay in the game?

Survivor Ghandia: I probably would have accepted the apology and then let it go, and whatever hard feelings or retribution or revenge I wanted to enact I wanted to save that for later in the game.

Visitor: Why didn't you let the thing with you and Ted drop after you he talked?

Survivor Ghandia: Because I was still very angry. I felt that his explanation for why he did it was lame. I was also upset that I had to confront him about it. It would have been way different if he'd come to me.

Visitor: Ghandia, do you honestly feel that you did not give any mixed signals to Ted?

Survivor Ghandia: Yes. He's married. He shouldn't be looking for any signals from anybody.

Visitor: Ghandia, what will you take away from this experience?

Survivor Ghandia: Awesome question! I will take away the fact that I grew as a person, because I really learned a lot about myself and my limits and how I could push those limits and still be all right.

Visitor: Ghandia, do you think you played this game strategizing, or with emotion?

Survivor Ghandia: I'd say it was 60% strategy, 40% emotion.

Visitor: What made you want to be on SURVIVOR?

Survivor Ghandia: I am an avid fan of the show. I've been watching it since the first episode. I'm such a fan that I started a SURVIVOR enthusiast group at my work. Plus just to push myself. I looked at this as the last great adventure I wanted to take.

Visitor: What did you do after you were voted off? Did you stay in Thailand for a while, and if so, what did you do there?

Survivor Ghandia: Once I got voted off I ate, drank beer and did some sightseeing, some elephant trekking, got some good shopping in. I got to see lots of the country. I got to see really awesome temples, eat excellent Thai food, then just party! I had lots of fun! And slept in a bed, thank God. [laughs]

Visitor: What was your favorite thing about the island, and your least?

Survivor Ghandia: My favorite thing about the island was the cave. My least favorite thing was how far we had to go to get our water.

Visitor: Ghandia, when you were stuck on the puzzle in the first Immunity Challenge, why didn't you switch with someone?

Survivor Ghandia: We weren't allowed to switch with anybody (we picked a person for each leg of the race) and even if I could have switched, by the time I was into that puzzle I was determined to finish it.

Visitor: After seeing last night's show, what do you have to say about the comments Ted made about you?

Survivor Ghandia: I think he's taken it too far. I think those comments that he made...he feels justified, but it does nobody any good to harbor bad feelings to anybody. I really hope that he's able to let that go.

Visitor: Are you still angry with Ted and Clay?

Survivor Ghandia: No! I could care less about Ted and Clay. They did what they did in the game. I did what I did in the game. Putting energy into hate is wasting energy that could be spent in a more positive way. Thinking about what Ted said...it never would have happened if he hadn't done anything.

Visitor: Ghandia, looking back on things, was there one moment when you realized you were on your way out?

Survivor Ghandia: Yes, when I noticed that there was the obvious division between male and female. I feel that the whole conflict between Ted and I caused that. And Ted was well liked by the guys on the tribe. I knew that I was on my way out.

Visitor: How supportive was you family of your going on SURVIVOR?

Survivor Ghandia: Oh, they were extremely wonderful. My husband made the commitment to take care of the kids. He told me that I showed him so much love by bearing him those two kids that he felt that was the least he could do to let me live my dream.

Visitor: Ghandia, what is the nationality of your first name, and what is its meaning?

Survivor Ghandia: I was named after Ghandi.

Visitor: Summarize your seven tribe mates in one single word each.

Survivor Ghandia: [laughs] Okay! Tanya: beautiful; Jan: energetic; Helen: strong; Brian: chameleon; Ted: buttery; John: God-like; Clay: short. [laughs] That's one for the Denver Diva!

Visitor: Ghandia, was this experience more than you were ready for?

Survivor Ghandia: Yes, I think I probably should have gotten a little more fit. Maybe lost another five pounds and gotten a little stronger. 'Cuz honey, after those physical challenges, I was tiiiired!

Visitor: Ghandia, what where your other choices for luxury items? Why did you choose them?

Survivor Ghandia: I had the key chain with my kids, I had the journal and pen, dominoes, a blanket that my mom crocheted for me, and I can't remember the fifth thing...I'm thinking it's a hat my mom crocheted me. I just tried to choose items that showed who I was and shared a little piece of myself with everyone on my tribe.

Visitor: Hi Ghandia, what do you think was your best asset to your tribe?

Survivor Ghandia: Hi, Laiken! Who was the best asset on my tribe? Me! [laughs] I don't know what they're going to do now that I'm gone.

Visitor: Hi, Ghandia. Do you think that losing as many Reward & Immunity Challenges was having an effect on Chuay Ghan?

Survivor Ghandia: Yes; however, I think it just made us hungrier and more determined to win. I knew we were underdogs, but we held our own.

Visitor: Ghandia, you were great in SURVIVOR! What skills do you think that you possess that made you think you could have been the sole SURVIVOR?

Survivor Ghandia: Thank you very much for that! The skills I possessed that I thought would make me sole SURVIVOR was that I accept people for who they are. I really work hard every day to not judge people and accept who they are, even if I don't agree with them. Plus, I'm damn funny, and nobody is going to get rid of someone who is making them laugh.

Visitor: Ghandia, what was your biggest weakness?

Survivor Ghandia: My biggest weakness was not being as physically fit as I possibly could have been.

Visitor: So how much of your ranting was real, and how much was tactical ?

Survivor Ghandia: All my ranting was real and tactical, because the ranting came about from actual anger, and so that I thought could use as a tactic to get Ted voted off.

Visitor: Hi, Ghandia. How much rain were you exposed to, and how did it affect your overall mood?
