McLAREN 551 DEBUTS IN NEW LIVERY


McLaren Traction Engine made its first proper public outing in its new green livery at the Road Steam event at Fromebridge Mill in Gloucestershire today. The engine drew many admiring glances at the event. The Steam Up will be reviewed in full on these pages in the near future.

LOOKING AHEAD

It has been decided that the main theme for the 2005 Gloucestershire Steam & Vintage Extravaganza held at Kemble Airfield will be based on Marshall products. SAUNDERS CORPORATE ATTRACTION


The Saunders family are currently finalising plans for their long awaited Steam & Organ themed attraction. Although planning permission is yet to be granted, the family are confident of the go ahead and are already well advanced with their plans.

They are keen to stress however that their collection of engines will still be seen out and about on the rally circuit.

At a recent sale of a private collection in Herefordshire, a Clayton & Shuttleworth Portable moved across the border into neighbouring Gloucestershire. Further details of this engine are limited at present but pictures will appear shortly.

VIV KIRK OF OXFORD


The following announcement was placed on the Traction Talk pages :

Viv Kirk died in hospital on Saturday morning. He had been in hospital for a while after suffering a fall, and then developing pneumonia.
As one of the first to preserve our steam heritage, he is owed thanks for rescuing the engines he did, and for passing on the stories and knowledge he'd acquired over the years
