Adventure Starter:
Handoff
by Alan Clark

One dark and stormy night, PCs are shaking off the rain at a table in the back corner of a boisterous inn. Suddenly the door bursts open, and in comes a tall, wild-looking man who is obviously a wizard, because A) he's flying rather than walking, and B) he's enveloped in a nimbus of pale scarlet flame. As astonished patrons gape at the intruder, a traveler at the table next to the PCs gasps, "He's found me!" Tossing his pouch to a PC, he hisses, "Don't let him have this, no matter what." He then attempts to reach the back door unnoticed, but the wizard sees him and strikes him dead with a spell. The terrified crowd clears away as the wizard lands by the body and quickly searches it. "It's gone!" he shrieks, glaring around the room. "Who took it?"
