I first fell in love with the fantasy world several years ago, after the loan of R.A. Salvatore's "Homeland".  A neighbor and friend introduced me to role-playing before I'd even finished the book - his book BTW - and I've been hooked ever since.

I've been role-playing off and on for about 12 years. I've been pretty much out of it though, for the past year and a half.  Due to this thing called real life (college, kids, making a living) getting in the way, I found I just couldn't give true effort to a PBEM, so I stuck when the games I was involved in folded, I didn't look for any new ones.  Until now!!   I finally decided that I couldn't stand it any longer, and went off in search of a new game.  I was a bit chagrinned to discover that the majority of the games were using 3rd Edition - I have the PHB, but I've never played using it, and so I wasn't about to start off with something I wasn't familiar with.  (So if you're wondering why none of my resources are 3E - that's why... but I'll be working on it!)  But anyway... I found a nice 2E game, Faerunian Nights, and am awaiting it's beginning sometime this week.

While I was looking for a game, (and for something lost in my closet) I ran across the original AD&D game set a friend had given me but I'd never used, and I pulled it out to look at it.  Both of my kids saw it and got interested, so I've ended up DMing adventures for them in a table top campaign.  It's great fun - not a lot of roleplaying from them yet as they're just starting, but its still a blast.  And you should have seen the look on my son's face when he couldn't wait to find someone to open this chest he found, so he broke the lock, and it exploded, costing him a few hit points, and destroying ALL the 500gp worth of jewels.  *snicker*

While I love playing table top, PBEM is by far my favorite.... you can let your creativity run wild and having that nice bit of time to decide what you're doing when you're surrounded by orcs armed with a candle is a nice plus too. *wink*

Anyway... enough of my insane rambling...

The REAL me

Projects:

Nexus RPG
Nexus is a game that begins in a setting similar to the Forgotten Realms, but that after a strange series of occurrences on the world we call Earth, suddenly finds itself tied together with a world that breathes science instead of magic...  It was my first large scale attempt at DMing.  Divorce, school, and other real-life obligations forced me to give it up, however, I have high hopes of running it again, or finding someone worthy of taking it over.

 Resources:

Irony Games
Another superb gamer's resource. This site has utilities for gamers, links to PBEM websites, plus the best new games listing I've ever seen. I found several of my games here. Check out their dice rollers - they're a big help if you don't have your own dice.

WebRPG
This is an excellent site where you can find games and players. There's a bulleting board and a chat area, and an excellent Top Twenty humor section.

NetRPG
A gigantic resource center for gamers and DM's alike. Lots of links to online utilities, plus downloadable programs, netbooks, links out the wadzoo and a plethora of other information.

@Fantasy
I haven't even been all the way through this site yet, and already it's on my list of favorites for resources. It's got a bit of everything.. from character creation to DM resources, graphics, and humor.

RPGnet
Self described as "The only industry focused independent gaming site on the net", there is quite a bit here for the discriminating gamer - if you go here for nothing more than their humor section (linked below), you'll not waste your time.

Candlekeep:  The Library of Forgotten Realms Lore
If you're even the least bit familiar with Forgotten Realms, then you know what this site is just by title. If you're not, and you're involved in a FR campaign, this is a good place for information.

Codex of Greyhawk
Just like the above site, a plethora of information on the Greyhawk fantasy setting. There isn't much you won't find here. (Thanks, Jeff!)

Wizards of the Coast (formerly TSR)
I couldn't very well have a role-playing page without this inclusion, the grand pooh-bah of the gaming world, and owner of all things AD&D.

CR2 Goodies
If you have TSR's Core Rules 2 CD, you'll love Evermore's Monthly Goodies for CR2.  And they're free!

@nder's AD&D Character Generator
Some DM's will make your character for you, and some will ask that you send them a pre-made character. This site will help you ENORMOUSLY if you don't know what the heck you're doing. *grins*

The Utah Baby Namer
This could *technically* fall under the humor section here, but if you're having trouble thinking of a good name for your character, try this place out. And no, I'm not making fun of the Mormon culture, but somehow I doubt this page is all *that* serious. I mean, really! Who names their baby "Pork Chop"?

Name Generator
Another place to get help if you're still nameless. A cool page, but not NEARLY as funny as the previous one. *wink*

Elven Pronunciation Guide
This page is just too cool! I've used the last wav file Circon's oath to Eorl from Unfinished Tales - as my window logon sound.

The Alternative Dictionaries
This is a great resource if you want to put a little color into your posts.  Lists common slang for 79 international languages.

Fun Stuff:

Nick's AD&D Psychoanalysis Test
(I'm a chaotic good mage, go fig;)

Dark Dungeons
This is a tract released in 1984 by Chick Publications in Chino, CA, touting the evils of role-playing games. It's really quite silly, and is good for a laugh;)

Dead Alewives - Dungeons and Dragons
I couldn't possibly describe how funny this is - you'll just have to download it. It's 3.26 megs in .MP3 format. If you don't already have an MP3 player, you'll need to download something like WinAmp (which I highly recommend).

101 Things You Don't Want to Hear Your Apprentice Say

RPG.NET Gamer's Realm - Humor and Bananas
A hilariously funny - not to mention HUGE archive of RPG related humor.  You've gotta check this out - but make sure you have plenty of free time - you won't want to leave!

Another great writing talent spawned of Realmsquest: This is Rogue's page of backgrounds, stories, etc of his player characters, foremost, Kellindril, Kaleyl's first love in RQ. Not only does Rogue have good taste, *wink* but wonderful writing talent as well.

The Tales of Hillary Skeryanc
Hillary is a very talented writer, and she flat out puts me to shame. Of course, my favorites are the pieces she's done for my Realmsquest character, Kaleyl. ~;)

World of Greyhawk
My friend Jeff's page... featuring the games he runs, and general info about the world of Greyhawk.
