"May I come in?" Kira says, back in uniform. No more Intendant, thank God.
"Of course," Bashir replies. He's just had a shower. So many emotions from their
mission--fear, rage, defiance, guilt--washed away.
Kira sits on his couch, fidgeting. "That was a rough mission--especially for you.
Commander Sisko's recommending you for a commendation."
"That's nice." Bashir tries to care, but fails.
Kira grimaces. "I know you feel bad right now. But, you had no choice. You had
to kill that overseer before he killed you. The first one is the worst. It gets easier."
"I know. That's what scares me.
