BotCon!
Ok, I goofed; when you buy a disposable camera, BUY ONE WITH A FLASH!  Oops.  So a bagillion apologies for not having any pics from BotCon.  Besides, there have been umpteenth write-ups already, so there is no point in rehashing a lot of this stuff.  However, here are a few impressions.

1. So, HOW BIG do you think this is?  I've been to BotCon for two years, and both times the staff at the convention center don't have clearly shown lines for the 500 people who show-up early for the convention.  Fortunately in both cons, BotCon folks were very cooperative and just followed orders and made no big fuss.  Although this isn't as big as a Trek Convention, YOU HAVE A LOT OF PEOPLE SHOWING UP TO THIS THING, PLEASE PLAN.  Little things like having lines up EARLY to show where pre-registered folks get their passes are appreciated.  Considering the line started to get long at about 7:30 am, and the con started at 9 am, early means 7 am.

2. Ah, my first panel.  I finally went to my first panel, and listened to assorted reps from Hasbro talking about Armada at length.  Woohoo!  I even got to ask a question; is a feature-length, theatrical release in the works?  Hehehehehehehehhehehee.  Answer; they're talking with LOTS of people to get the right situation, so stay turned.  Nice tidbit from the toy designers; apparently SOMETHING is planned for Unicron.  Oooohhhhh.

3. Dealer room, dealer room!  Good news; LOTS of dealers, as usual, with a little bit of everything; vintage, recent stuff, imports, some decent knock-offs.  I managed to snag a few
Micro-Man pieces, the new He-Man figures, and a few other odds-and-ends.  Bad news; VERY little Armada.  Most dealers had a few of the Mini-Cons, one dealer had a Megatron and a few of the Deluxe pieces, and wanted double retail.  Granted, I understand the secondary market, but $50 for Megatron?  Uh uh.

4. 'Car Robots' in the animation room. I actually watched an episode of 'Car Robots.'  I think my brain finally forgave me after I got on the plane for Columbus.  Lordy... this from the country that gave us 'Gundam' and 'Starblazers?!?!?!??!?!?!?!?!?!'  Oh, the humanity!  I realize you're patronizing Trans-Fans, but how about a few other things?  Maybe a few 'Robotech' episodes?  Perhaps some 'Gundam?'  A little variety is a fun thing.

5. Art room.  One of the fun places for me is always the art-room; customized figures, costumes, neat art-work, the works.  Nothing is as surprising as seeing someone in an Arcee costume wandering about the show.
