Starscream
Toy Line: Transformers - Cybertron/Galaxy Force
Manufacturer: Takara/Hasbro
Meat and Potatoes; 5.0
Perks; 5..0
Homer Factor; 5.0
Description: everyone's favorite transforming jet and pain in the ass is back in style!

The newest incarnation of Starscream is approximately 8" tall in robot more and has the same ultra-futuristic look of the other Cybertron/Galaxy Force pieces.  His plane mode looks like a wedge-shaped fighter plane with a pair of wing cannons and two more cannons beside the 'cockpit'.

The jet's nose splits and extends to become Starscream's legs, the engines become the arms while the fuselage is the torso.  Starscream has multiple points of articulation and is mostly gray with red and blue high lights.

He comes with a smaller, detachable missile launcher while his arm cannons pop out to become energy blades.
Ah Starscream, everyone's favorite back-stabbing Lieutenant Commander.  One of the great challenges to Starscream, besides tolerating that voice, is the figure itself.  Can you honestly envision Starscream as anything else besides a baaaaaaaaaaad mo'fo' fighter?  Only Prime's form as a truck is more identifiable with the character. (At the risk of committing sacrilege... I was never too keen with Megatron being a gun.  Come on, Prime gets to be a MASSIVE semi, Starscream is a fighter and Megatron is... this small pistol.  Not even a big, baaaaad rifle or cannon, but a teeny, tiny, pistol.  Insert compensating jokes here.)

Fortunately the Toy Gods at Takara have done a good job of keeping things interesting for Prime/Convoy.  Whether an well-armed mammoth for 'Beast Wars Neo'(link) to the sweet fire truck of 'Super Fire Convoy'(lnk) all version may not be perfect but they're still pretty dang good. (Hey, as much flack as Armada took the version of Convoy is still pretty cool. (link))

So what about Starscream?   We're batting a thousand here folks!  Woohoo!

Meat and potatoes are pretty dang sweet.  As the other pieces from this excellent line the figure showcases outstanding sculpting and articulation in ''bot mode.  The figure is covered in details ranging from the cannons sculpted around the 'cockpit' to the vents all over the dang place.  In 'bot mode the piece has an amazing amount of articulation as well.  Jet mode is equally gorgeous.  The vents and panel lines give this piece a very good, far-future look.

Perks are pretty cool.  The transformation from fighter to bot and back is very simple but it's a beautiful change.  The fighter is a hot looking, futuristic fighter to the 'bot mode which is an able close-in fighter. The weapons are kinda cool.  A pair of 'energy swords' pops out from Starscream's arms, giving him melee weapons to go with the cannon he holds like a rifle.

Homer factor?  Waaaaaaaaaaaay high people.  Starscream pieces tend to be VERY good for Transformers and this line has resulted in gorgeous pieces.

The end result is an outstanding piece to have.  Something that cackling, conniving, manipulating 'bot would look upon with pride... and probably ask for extras to give to his cohorts.
