Description;  the White Wizard in three dimensions!

Gandalf the White is 6" tall and has a new sculpt.  The figure's hair is resculpted to look a bit more wind-tossed.  The figure has multiple points of articulation for a ton o' posing/fighting possibilities.

The figure comes with a sword which fits in a scabbard, staff, cloth robe, and sword-slashing action.

Obi-Wan Kenobi.  Merlin.  Gandalf.  Some of the great mentors in fiction and it can be a rough life.  Old Ben had to convince a Jedi wannabe to join him, and to stop whining.  Merlin was stuck persuading a King to brandish Excalibur, and stop whining.  Guiding the ring-bearer to his final destination and hearing him whine and look doe-eyed.  Yeah, it's a VERY tough job, but someone has to whip these wusses into shape, right?  The fun with Gandalf is we get to see him in his prime and kick some serious butt!  When we see Old Ben in 'SW Ep. IV' all we see is a very wise man, but no idea of what the full power of a Jedi is.  With Merlin in John Boorman's 'Excalibur', you saw a wizard who didn't get a chance to use his ability.  With Gandalf, though, oh boy.  Whether gangsta-slapping the Belrog,  leading the forces of Minis Tirith, or having better fighting moves then Jet Li while fighting Orcs, Gandalf was one baaaaaaaaaad mo'fo'.  Naturally, a character that's this much of a bad-ass has GOT to have some awesome figures, and ToyBiz obliged, big-time.  FYI, this was originally packaged with the 'ROTK' series 2 line, but it was re-released with the 'Black Gate of Mordor' set.  So what does the White Wizard get?  A figure matching his stature.  Woohoo!

Meat and potatoes on this piece are standard ToyBiz; great.  Articulation, sculpture of the figure, and painting on it are beautifully done to duplicate Gandalf's look as the White Wizard.  I especially like the flowing hair and annoyed 'I'm here to chew bubble gum and kick ass and I'm out of bubble gum' expression on his face.

Ah, but the perks are awesome on this one.  Gandalf comes with his staff, Glamdring the sword and scabbard, and a CLOTH robe.  I normally hate these; they don't drape well and look VERY corny.  However ToyBiz did a pretty good job on this one.  There is actually some TRIM on the cloak so it doesn't just look like a chunk of white cloth tied to the figure, and it's got a hood on it.  Gandalf also has a sword-slashing action that works pretty well; push the button on Gandalf's back and his right arm slashes up and down.  The action feature messes with the articulation a bit, but not so much it keeps the piece from having multiple posing options.

Homer factor is high on Gandalf.  Hey, it's Gandalf the White, aka Magneto in another movie franchise.  What's not to like about this guy?

In the end, not a whole lot... accept for the fact this line is slowly but surely ending.  Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!
