You're probably wondering why all of a sudden, you chance to stumble upon this site. Well, this page is going to tell you who we are and why we decided to partake of the project you now see on your screen.

Just out of sheer curiosity, who are you?

We're Roswell fanatics, plain and simple. Abby & Maxie decided one day, after reading some great fanfic, that there needed to be a site to showcase all of this great stuff.

Maxie & Abby you say? Are those your real names?

Busted. No, they're not our real names. But we have no intention of letting the general population know our real names. But Maxie came from 'Maxie's' insatiable love of anything Max. Abby, believe it or not, is the name of Shiri Appleby's cat.

Why do you like Roswell?

That question should be "Why do you LOVE Roswell?" Well, for starters, it's exciting. How many people do you know have as many dilemmas as they do? How many people do you know that aren't related that are as closely knit as all of them? Roswell has an appeal to it, something that all of us yearn for in our real lives - everyday people with not-so-everyday situations. That's why the characters, Michael, Liz, Max, Izzy, Maria... all of them are like family. And like family, their trials and plights aren't just on TV. We experience them right along side of them in our living rooms.

Why do you have a site dedicated to fanfic instead of the show?

We feel that writing stories about something you love is the highest flattery there is. When you think about it that way, all Roswell fanfic sites are, in fact, dedicated to the show. And, since the show is indeed over (I don't think I'll ever forget 05/14/2002) this is the best way that we can think of to keep the show alive. If people can still write M*A*S*H fanfic, then people can write Roswell fanfic. It's their legacy.

Why is there so little fanfiction on this site considering it is over two years old?

To answer that fully, you'd really have to experience a year in the life of Abby or Maxie. But since this isn't Freaky Friday, we'll try to answer the question. Life keeps us busy: personal life, family trauma, signifigant others or being overworked and underpaid in the steady stream of employment. Sometimes if you combine them all together you get an exceptionally busy year. Maxie and Abby don't even live anywhere near each other so everything is done via email. Maxie has a busy job, and Abby has recently diagnosed medical ailments. (Where's Max when you need him?) Not to mention that the fanfic we have on site is what the two of us consider the absolute best. Not all fanfic we read or that is submitted will make the final cut. But on that note, we'd also like to give kudos to all of those willing to take up a pen and pour their soul into something creative. It takes a spectacularly moving show like Roswell to inspire us to that degree, and that is something we all have in common.

Do you guys write your own fanfic? If you do, will you share it on this site?

We have been known to dabble in the genre. However, this site isn't to blow our own horns. This is to give credit to others who love the show and characters enough to write about them.

What do you look for in a story so that it can be posted?

Ah, so glad you asked! We've talked about it and this is what we've come up with. The stories have to have good grammar and punctuation. A few spelling mistakes isn't a bad thing, we all make those. But if a story is littered with bad spelling, too many or too little commas, run-on sentences and such, it won't be accepted until the author does a little editing. We're not trying to be mean, but sometimes stories like that are a little hard to follow.

Secondly, we're not out for smut. There's more sites than you can shake a stick at out there if all you're going for is to knock your rocks off. Fanfic submitted with an NC-17 rating will be accepted as long as it's refined and in good taste. We're not here to sanction pornography.

Lastly, the story has to be, well, great. Plot has to be incredible. We're looking for stories that you can see in your head. You know, the kind that 'read like an episode'. We're sure you all know of some. The ones that give you goosebumps and make your hairs stand on end? The ones that make you cry? Let us know where they are! We want to see them too!

Why don't you have a Polarist or Lizizard section?

There are a few main "romantic" groups. The standards are Dreamer, Candy, and Stargazer. Those have the most fanfic written so those are on the main page. Any other stories that are about a single character (i.e. Donors, Hussies, Pepperjackers, Teflon Babes) or a POV from a single character will be included in the General Action section of the site. Any unconventional pairings will be in the A/U [Alternate Universe] category. If the pairing isn't canon, or insinuated canon, it's in the A/U section. But we're a small website just starting out. With substantial growth and nominations, you may find different sections devoted to different romantic pairings in the future.

Anything else?

Yes actually... When we find a story we like we will link to that person's website in our Links section. Also, we'd likt to refrain from uploading whole stories onto our server. I know it sounds like we're just lazy, but there's method to our madness, honest! The first reason we'd like to do it this way is for the simple fact that real life is way too hectic for us to sit and edit a whole page. A paragraph here, a break here, would just be too time consuming. Also, if it's already posted on the author's site, then it's probably already formatted the way they like it. We don't want to screw that up. But, if you're really concerned about bandwidth and all that jazz, then we really don't mind. Just let us know which you prefer.
