Ayashi no Ceres

This is the tale of Aya Mikage and her twin brother Aki, whose lives are turned upside down on their 16th birthday. At their so-called birthday party, her family led by her grandfather tries to kill her, and imprisons her brother. She later finds out that she possesses the blood of a tennyo (heavenly maiden) called Ceres. Long ago, Ceres came from Heaven to Earth and a man, Shiso, fell in love with her. To prevent her from returning to Heaven, he stole her hagoromo (gossamer robe). Ceres was then forced to stay on Earth and she married Shiso and borne his children - the Mikage clan. When Ceres found out that Shiso was the one who had stolen her hagoromo, she killed him in anger. After she died she could not return to Heaven so she kept trying to find out where the hagoromo was - she did this by "reincarnating" herself in every daughter that was born to the Mikage clan. Down the generations, any daughters who exhibited Ceres's powers, were killed, and Ceres's plan to destroy the Mikage clan was always prevented. Until, Aya was born, with a twin brother, named Aki. So happens Aya has Ceres within her, and that Aki has Shiso within him, turning the siblings into unwilling enemies. Aya struggles to fight her fate and rid herself of Ceres, and along the course she must avoid numerous attempts on her life made by her grandfather and other members of the Mikage family, as well as find a way to win her beloved brother back his freedom. Helping her is Suzumi Aogiri, a woman who also possesses tennyo blood, and Suzumi's brother-in-law Yuuhi, a boy Aya's age who is assigned to protect Aya. Working in the background is Aya's cousin Kagami who, keeping it a secret from the grandfather, tells the Mikage family's henchman Tooya not to kill Aya but to keep an eye on her and find out more about her powers as tennyo and Ceres. A love of a lifetime blossoms between Aya and Tooya, as they hand-in-hand faces the ultimate challenges in their lives. Ayashi no Ceres is tale of romance and adventure, and the lead couples are Aya and Tooya, and Ceres and Shiso. It is a story of love that defies time and love where sacrifices are inevitable..
