Playoffs And
Blackburn Tournament
Here is a basic rundown of everything Rogues related, starting on Sunday. Get ready, there's a LOT of ball to be played....
We start everything on Sunday with a practice. We will especially concentrate on bunting, and fielding bunts as well. Not to mention trying to figure out exactly where people are going to be playing in the infield as regards to bunts, steals and the like. We'll work on hitting and fielding, and whatever else people deem important. Sunday at noon on diamond #4.
Then it's off to the playoffs. SEB SOUCY WILL IN FACT BE JOINING THE TEAM FOR THESE TWO GAMES, AS HE WILL BE LEAVING FOR HIS VACATION ON THURSDAY. SO WE'LL HAVE THE FULL 12 IN THE LINEUP. We've got Monday against Valley who smoked The Wild Things 11-1 last Wednesday, and we've got said Wild Things the following Wednesday, hopefully in a game where if we win, we get to move on.
After these two games are completed, then it gets interesting. The next day (Thursday) in Blackburn Hamlet...we play a team called The Draughts. Game time is 7:00PM behind the Blackburn Arena.
Our next game is on FRIDAY, at 6:15 against a team called Fitzroy Harbour. This game is on a diamond called Queensway Park, and to get there, you get off at Blair (Turn left if coming from east end, turn right if coming from West End...opposite direction of Gloucester Centre / Silver City) and turn left at the Royal Oak. Keep going down that road until you find the diamond. I'll try and have maps for everyone on Monday at the playoff game.
Our third game is the next day (SATURDAY) at...ah hem...9AM! A morning game! Against a very classy team called the Ball Bangers. This game will also be played at Queensway Park.
If we're fortunate enough to have the opportunity to move on, then playoffs will be on Sunday at either 9:00 or 11:00 / and 5:00 or 7:00 depending on where we place. There are 14 teams in 2 divisions of 7. We're in pool A (The Stingers are in B) The top two teams move on from each division, and the best in A plays the second best in B, and The best in B plays the second best in A. The winners of both move on, and the losers of both play each other as well, I believe. So thats The Blackburn Tournament.
So to recap: Sunday Practice...then games on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. 5 games in 6 days...hope you guys have been working out!
Some side notes: All 12 batters are in the lineup for batting no matter what for the Blackburn Tournament. Fielding I believe is unlimited substitutions, so if you come out of a game, you can probably go back in afterwards. As well, when coming home, in order to score a run, all you have to do is pass a line that will be drawn from home plate to the fence on the third base sign. This is to prevent home plate collisions and stuff.
Rumour has it there's a homerun hitting contest, but I'm not sure when that is going to take place. I've received very little information from the guy organizing this whole thing.
Anyways, thats all I have for you now. I'll try and keep you posted as much as possible............M@
