Are You The One
© by Rogue Poet

All these questions coming ‘round
confusions and uncertainties certainly abound.

Are you the one, who will be more than friend,
on whom I can trust and even depend?
Are you the one, on whose shoulder I’ll cry
who will, again, teach me to fly?
Are you the one, who will negate my fears,
crush my worries, and wipe away my tears?
Are you the one, who will unlock my heart,
could we, together, make a new start?
Are you the one, who holds the key,
to unlock this cell and set me free?
Are you the one, who is meant for me,
could you and I make a new family?
Are you the one, my heart to renew
who will bring me love, full of joy, so true?

Or is this simply not to be,
could you and I, never be we?

Are you the one, who will betray,
with little things you think or say?
Are you the one, who will break my heart strings,
with false loving words, make many new stings?
Are you the one, who will do me wrong,
elevate my hopes, and string me along?
Are you the one, to begin a new game,
new rules, new tools, but pain just the same?
Are you the one, who will compound my pain,
shatter my dreams, make tears fall as rain?
Are you the one, who will stab me in the back,
with my best friend, jump in the sack?
Are you the one, who will break my will,
and with despair, my whole being fill?

I am willing, though, these risks to take
for you could be the one, for whom I ache.

You are the one, on whom I muse.
You are the one, I cannot bear to lose.
You are the one, I dream of at night.
For you, the mythical Titans, I would fight.
You are the one, for whom I care.
The rest of forever, with you, I’d share.
You are the one, sent from above.
Who has at last, taught me to love.
You and I, we make a good pair.
When I come home, I want you there.
You are the one, who was meant for me.
You are the one who holds the key.
