Aim:  How does the release of O2 related to the intake of CO2?

(Addition of Light)

CO2 + H20                             C6H12O6 + O2

Carbon Dioxide and Water are necessary to complete photosynthesis.  To oxidize the water, NADPmust be added.  The water is oxidized and NADPis reduced to form NADPH2 and free oxygen.  Then the CO2 acts as the final hydrogen acceptor, combines with the NADPH2 to form C6H12O6 and NADP.  The NADP is reduced and you are left with C6H12O6 and O2.  This goes on and on and is called the Calvin Cycle.
