Welcome!

Why yet another amateur astronomy site?

That's a good question. There are many sites out there that are better than this, and they convey the information in an exemplary manner. My take on amateur astronomy is a bit more basic. Let me explain.

It is very easy for an advanced amateur astronomer to frighten off prospectives. Most people in the world are stargazers in one form or another, and this is a pasttime that has been part of the human experience for centuries. It's natural for us to look up at the night sky and wonder. But it is very easy to overwhelm prospective amateur astronomers with too much, too soon. Basic stargazing is a pasttime anyone can do, regardless of their level of knowledge.

What Is The Purpose Of This Site?

To show that you needn't have a big wallet, a vast knowledge of science or all the time in the world to just look up. Stargazing can be one of the most rewarding and relaxing activities anyone can undertake
