Sergeant William Osborne, Company F

William Osborne was born in Floyd County, Ky. about 1843, the son of Thomas Osborne and Nancy Frazier, both originally from Virginia. His discharge states he was 22 years old when mustered out September 15, 1865, at Louisville, Ky. He enlisted December 6, 1862, to serve three years. He was descrbed as a farmer, five feet nine inches tall with blue eyes and light hair. William Osborne was apparently literate judging from his signature on an "Oath of Identity" on the back of his discharge. He lived in the community of Eastern in Floyd county, Ky. and is buried there in the Osborne cemetery. A mlitary headstone marks his grave.
