Comrade Mollett is an old soldier who served his country faithfully and well during the late war. He had been engaged in farming and was but 16 years of age when he was enrolled as a private in Company G, 39th Ky. V.I. He was internally injured at Mt. Sterling for which he received hospital treatment for three months. In 1863, he was furloughed for thirty days and returned to Catlettsburg, Ky.

He did considerable scout and provost duty and was also a participant in the battles of Mt. Sterling and Cynthiana, and several skirmishes; he was honorably discharged at Louisville, Ky., September 1865. His brother James belonged to the 39th Mtd. V.I. and is now a minister in the Baptist church in Martin County. Our subject's ancestors settled in Johnson County in the pioneer days and shared with others the hardships incidental to that period of the country's history.
