JOHN STAPLETON: Co. G, 39th KY (UNION) Mounted Infantry. Enlisted as a Corporal on Nov. 18, 1862, at Peach Orchard, KY. He was mistakenly reported as a deserter on April 5, 1863, but he was on scout. He was listed as, "5'8", fair complexion, blue eyes, and light hair." He died of fever at his home on Tom's Creek, Johnson County, KY, on April 15, 1863. He is my 4th Great-Uncle.
