Biography

Flemming Hall first apprears in the 1850 Census of Russell County Virginia. His father was Isham Hall born ca. 1800-02, his mother was Mahala Hammon born about 1810, in Kentucky. Her parents according to other researchers were Ephraim Hammon and Winnie Little. I have not been able to prove this or disprove this. Flemming is shown as 13, his older sister Elizabeth is shown as 15, another sister Lucy is shown as 10, his younger brother John is shown as 10, an Enos Derryfield age 16 is living with this family. There are many different dates given as for the birth date of Flemming in various records. Next door to Flemming in the 1850 Russell County Census is the family of Nathan Ingles and wife Judith, they are both 33 years of age, their daughter Pricy, listed as Polly in this census age 15 would be Flemmings first wife, later 2 different census' give her as 8-10 years older than Flemming but there are many different age differences in this line.

This Isham, father of Flemming is the s/o John Hall and Nancy. This John is the son of Isham Hall Sr. and wife Mary, alledged brother to Jesse Hall and wife Dicy, Isham Hall Sr. the son of Thomas Hall Sr and Martha according to Cornelius Carroll. In the 1860 Census of Pike County Kentucky Flemming is listed with wife Pricy and one son W.F. Hall age 1, Flemming's age is given as 21 his wifes age as 30. Sometime between 1850 and 1860 Flemming has moved from Russell County, VA to Pike County Ky. I am descended from a daughter of his born about 1857. Elizabeth, but I do not know who her mother was, on her marriage record of 1873, she is listed as Elizabeth Hall in the presence of Flemming Hall. Since this is at the Newman House and she is marrying Andrew Jackson Newman and Flemming is the only Hall listed other than her I must assume that he is her father, I will say I do not have any solid proof just circumstanial evidence.

In 1870/1880, he and family are in Pike County Kentucky, his wife Pricy dies and he re-marries 31 May 1875 to a Mary Mullins in Pike County, she has been married before and I have not looked to find her maiden name as of yet.

Flemming is in the 1900-1910 and 1920 Census of Pike County Kentucky. He is living with children then Grandchildren. He died 4-20-1920, and is buried in the Dorton-Johnson-Bumgardner Cemetery at Dorton, Pike County Kentucky. The stone is suppose to read: born 2-16-1825 died 4-20-1920, I have not visited the grave, again a different date for his birth.
