41 Commando History
41 Commando were formed on the 10th October 1942. They served in operations at Orne, Walcheren and Salerno before being disbanded on the 20th Feburary 1946.
On the 16th August 1950 the unit was reformed as 41 Independent Commando and served in Korea.
The Unit was again disbanded on the 22nd February 1952 and reformed again on the 31st March 1960 as 41 Commando Royal Marines serving in Kenya, Norway and the West Indies.
The Unit was yet again disbanded on the 30th April 1977, but reformed in the autumn of the same year.
41 Commando RM went on to serve on operations in Cyprus and Northern Ireland prior to being disbanded again in the early 80's.
