IDENTIFYING FEATURES: * cozier with a sparse covering of deciduous scales * upper surface of midrib with a soft covering of fine felt-like scales, the underside armed with long sharp spines * pinnae abruptly narrowed near the tip * plants fertile while quite small * indusium almost covered by sorus, but visible with a hand lens on the inner side of sorus
