Journal entries on Rilmani Biology (writer and dating system unknown)

02/64 They're definitely hermaphrodites - they each have two sets of sexual organs. No womb, though. Curious.

12/65 Newborn rilmani appear to emerge from the Spire itself. It's difficult to be sure, seeing how not even gods can get as close to the Spire as they can.

13/92 Is the Spire even solid, or is that big mountain we see just a result of all light being drained away like magic is further out? Light shines off it, of course, and it isn't really black, but I assume the Spire drains away actual darkness just as easily as it drains light.

88/02 Petitioners who faithfully serve and truly comprehend the Balance move into the Corelands. Do the rilmani take them in? Do they become one with the Land? Does the Spire transform them into something else?

14/06 Their cities aren't symmetrical at all, but they're equivalent. Each part balances out the whole.

10/10 I think the contact I call Ironhead was once a plumarch. Before that, I think he was a cuprilach.

14/26 I've partially decoded the forehead ridges; they don't represent rank after all.

03/49 I think that in the Spire, even personality, form, and identity is drained away. Who you are when you go in might have nothing to do with who you are when you come out. The Balance decides.

01/49 Does time itself vanish within the Spire's depths?

00/00 Balance itself judged the Kamerel, and they were found wanting. Too much was being claimed by the factions.

05/65 Balance doesn't judge, it makes no decisions; it simply reacts.

02/00201 Space disappears. The Spire is everywhere. The Spire is all.

07/92 When Cagers want to deride or praise a hopeless act, they call it "spire-climbing." Heh. I don't care; I'm ready. I'm going in.
