The Andy Griffith Show Description:

This show was a comedy series about a kind-hearted widower who was also a small-town sheriff. He raised his son with the help of his Aunt. He also had to deal with a zany cast of characters including a deputy who was so inept that the sheriff only allowed him one bullet and the deputy had to carry that in his pocket. The Andy Griffith Show was a good, wholesome, family-oriented series with lots of laughs.

The Andy Griffith Show Trivia:

The series was a spin-off of the "Make Room For Daddy" tv show (1953) where Andy Griffith guest-starred in the cast as Sheriff Andy Taylor!

Deputy Barney Fife and Sheriff Andy Taylor were cousins.

Jack Nicholson appeared one of the episodes titled, "Aunt Bee, the Juror".

Andy Griffith's first credited role was in 1953 on the United States Steel hours presentation of "No Time For Sergeants". Andy Griffith later (in 1958) starred in the movie of the same name. The Andy Griffith Show spinoff, "Gomer Pyle U.S.M.C." was based on "No Time For Sergeants".

Don Knots won 5 emmys for Outstanding Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role.

Mayberry, North Carolina was based opon Mt. Airy, North Carolina: Andy Griffith's birthplace.
