The Movie-Length Pilot!

"Shadow Of A Hawke"

During the Reagan era of the '80s, TV adventure series took on a decidedly more macho bent, and with presidential speculation about a Star Wars defense system, the concepts of advanced technology and super gadgets achieved increased popularity. Airwolf was a perfect combination of man and machine. The title "character" was a sort of super helicopter, capable of covering enormous distances while outrunning ordinary jets and outfitted with enough firepower to blast away an enemy army. However, Airwolf's unscrupulous inventor stole his creation and tried to sell it to Libya. Enter Stringfellow Hawke (Jan-Michael Vincent), a cello playing, lone wolf, renegade pilot complete with a chip on his shoulder and an attitude to back it up recruited by a secret government agency ("The Firm") to find the missing copter. Hawke's mission was successful but he refused to return Airwolf until the government found his brother, who was MIA in Vietnam. He would, however, undertake missions on behalf of The Firm, who contacted Hawke through a mysterious man called Archangel (Alex Cord, in white suit and eye-patch). Oscar-winning, veteran actor Ernest Borgnine, who had spent several successful seasons steering McHale's Navy, added flavor to the cast as Hawke's buddy/right hand man Dominic. In the second season, they were joined by a female pilot, Caitlin O'Shannessy, played by Jean Bruce Scott. The series ran for two and a half years on CBS, before a revamped version with a different cast debuted on the USA Cable network.

Each volume in the series contains two one-hour episodes.
