Nevin Genealogy
The Nevin family is an interesting family with many tie-ins to many individuals of historical significance. There are many Nevin lines that have come to America. It is my hope that as time passes, this page will be a connection for many of those lines.

My own line starts with Daniel Nevin. Tradition has it that he came to New York City from Scotland in 1740. He married Margaret Eagles in 1742 in New York City. In 1743, their first son, Daniel was born. This second Daniel left New York City for the farmlands of the Cumberland Valley, Pennsylvania, where he met a widow, Margaret (Williamson) Reynolds, and married her. Her brother, Hugh Williamson was a signer of the Constitution of the United States.

Many of the descendants of Daniel Nevin have become prominent in American history. Please take a look at the ancestors of Daniel Nevin. If you are interested in looking at some of the interesting people that are related through the matriarchal lines, please look at

Nevin Genealogica - A great tool originally written about 1929 by John Dennison Nevin. Volume I is a complete transcription but has not been proofread (please excuse any typos). Volume I contains a lot of pieces of Nevin genealogy, most of it in Scotland, Ireland, and Great Britain. A direct connection has not yet been established to Daniel Nevin. I have personally found chapter 5 to be extremely interesting and most in-line (so far) with stories that have been passed down through the generations. As research has continued, it appears that William Nevin, the last Nevin owner of Monkredding, may have come to Perth Amboy, NJ in 1685. There was a signet ring that was in the family that matched the emblem "N" on the tower of the Monkredding Castle. This ring was very worn  and had been passed through the generations until recently lost. It is probable, then, that William was an ancestor of Daniel Nevin. Please feel free to browse through some of the well documented interesting stories in this volume.

Volurme II documents the descendants of Daniel Nevin. It uses much of the information from the original
Nevin Genealogica and updates the original data and will add many new descendants. The final document should contain about 12 to 13 generations.
