Ancestors of Johannes Hausch, father of Hans Adam Hausch, from ~1550 to 1730

A study of the ancestry of Johannes Hausch is presented. In his marriage record from Reudern in 1729, it is stated that Johannes is from Eckwälden and was the son of Hans Hausch. This study is based on church records (baptism, marriage, death and seelenregister) from Zell unter Aichelberg (Eckwälden was originally a part of this parish). The Family History Library title of the church records is:

The information relevant to this study was found on film # 1056505 [Taufen, Heiraten 1555-1679 – (Seelenregister) – Taufen 1679-1734 – Heiraten 1679-1725 – Toten 1679-1725, 1734]. An examination of this microfilm showed that it consisted of two books with the following layout:

Book 1

Seelenregister 1555-1679 [A Seelenregister is a family register of

communicants in the parish. The segment containing Welden,

an older name for Eckwälden, begins on p. 329.]

Marriages and Communicants begin on p. 418.

A modern index of the Seelenregister follows at the end.

The baptism, marriage and death records are very incomplete in their extant form, and the Seelenregister contain much information that is not available in the other records. Where the complete records are today, or if they even exist, is not currently known.


Zell unter Aichelberg, Eckwälden, Hattenhoffen, Weilheim an der Teck, Ditzenbach, and Reudern are all villages mentioned in this report. Eckwälden is located 1.9 miles southeast of Zell, Hattenhoffen is located 1.2 miles north of Zell, and Weilheim is located 2.8 miles south-southwest of Zell. The location of Ditzenbach has not yet been reported. Reudern is located 8.4 miles west of Zell.


Until the 20th century Eckwälden was a part of the oberamt of Kircheim and the parish of Zell unter Aichelberg. Eckwälden is currently a part of the municipality of Bad Boll (1.5 miles east of Zell).

The following is a sketch of the ancestry of Johannes Hausch of Eckwälden. It is contended that Johannes Hausch, the son of Hans Hausch, who married Agatha Müller in Reudern on 22 November 1729 is the (1) Johannes listed below. It should be noted that there are several Hausch lines in Eckwälden, this little village was a seat of the Hausch family for several centuries (from the 16th century when records began to be kept, all the way through the 19th century); however, there was no other Johannes, son of Hans Hausch, born in Eckwälden at the appropriate time besides the one identified here.

Generation 2


Johannes Hausch was the son of (Hanß) Ludwig Hausch and Margaretha. He was christened 6 Oct 1682 in Eckwälden [Book 2, SR, p. 801]. He married Barbara, the daughter of Laurentz Hausch 25 Feb 1705 in Eckwälden [Book 2, marriages, p.14]. His father, Ludwig, is referred to as a bürger in Eckwälden, as is Barbara’s father, Laurentz.


The children of Johannes Hausch and Barbara Hausch are:

  1. Johannes, * 27 May 1706, Eckwälden [Book 2, Taufen, p. 101]. He married in Reudern; it is not known when or where he died.

  2. Ephrosina, * 13 Nov 1712, Eckwälden [Book 2, Taufen]. An annotation beside her baptismal record indicates that she died in 1798 in Boll.

  3. Lorenz, * 14 March 1715, Eckwälden [Book 2, Taufen, p. 135]. An annotation beside his baptismal record indicates that he married 1st in 1741(?) and 2nd in 1798; the annotation also indicates that he died in 1798.

Generation 3


Hanß Ludwig Hausch was the son of Johannes (Hanß) Hausch and Magdalena Krissler. He was christened 29 Jun 1653 in Eckwälden [Book 1, SR, p. 358]. He married Margaretha at an unknown date [Book 2, SR, p. 801]. He died 8 Nov 1711 in Eckwälden (age 58 years) [Book 2, Toten Anno 1711, p. unnumbered].


Book 2, SR, p. 801 contains a register of the family of Hanß Ludwig Hausch and Margaretha, all christened in Eckwälden:

Generation 4


Johannes (Hanß) Hausch was the son of Martin Hausch and Barbara Schweitzer. He was christened 17 Mar 1622 in Eckwälden [Book 1, SR, p. 388]. He married Magdalena Krissler of Weilheim (an der Teck) on 30 Sep 1651 [Book 1, SR, p. 358]. While this marriage is annotated in the family register, it is not located in the parish marriage register in 1651 perhaps they were married in her hometown as the family register lists her as “von Weilheim”. IGI records (film number 537732, reference number 41342) contain a birth record for Magdalena Krissler at Weilheim an der Teck as well as a statement that she married Hans Hausch; no marriage record is, however, listed.

Martin Hausch was the son of Jacob Hausch and Maria Weber. He was christened 17 Jan 1580 in Eckwälden [Book 1, SR, p. 386]. He married Barbara, daughter of Ulrich Schweitzer of Ditzenbach, on 15 Jun 1608 in Eckwälden [Book 1, p. 441v].

Laurentz Hausch and Ephrosina were married 9 Jun 1680 [Book 2, marriages, Anno 1680, unpaginated].

A register for their family is found in Book 2, SR, p. 797.

The Hausch data agree with the outline presented above, down through Generation 3, below which no more relevant lines are continued. It is not known where his information came from. This appendix presents the ancestry of Magdalena Krissler; the information was downloaded 4 Jul 2004.


1. Magdalena Krissler was the daughter of Ludwig Krissler & Susanna Hönlin. Magdalena was christend 14 Apr 1621 in Weilheim an der Teck. She married Johannes Hausch (see above) 30 Sep 1651.


2. Ludwig Krissler was the son of Sebastian Krissler and Sabrina. He was christened 16 Jan 1588 in Weilheim an der Teck. He married Susanna Hönlin at an unknown date. He died 2 Jan 1661 in Weilheim. Susanna died 18 Sep 1632 in Weilheim.
