OUR CALENDAR & ACTIVITIES
Lorene Malec is originally from Los Angeles, CA but she is currently living in Cincinnati, OH.   Her husband has been a pilot for the US Marine Corps for 18 years, both on active duty and in the reserves, and is also a pilot with Delta - although he is currently on military leave.  Due to his career, they have lived and traveled all over the world where one of her favorite places was Okinawa, Japan where she learned Japanese and was a tour guide for the USO.  They have 4 wonderful children - ages 16,12, 7 and 6 and they have been her full time job for the past 16 years.

Lorene joined Rhodec in August of 1993 and plans to finish the Diploma Course this year then achieve the BA from London Metropolitan.  She would like to combine her love for travel and passion for Interior Design by eventually going into International Hospitality Design.

She began writing for the RASC Newsletter in 2005 and took over the position as Newsletter Editor in Sept. of 2006.  She has had the opportunity to meet several Rhodec students and is looking forward to serving on the Student Chapter Board as President  and meeting and getting to know many more!

Lorene was an important part of the organizing team of the OnLine Educational Symposium held in April.
Robin Lamonte attended college during the 1970s and studied interior design and psychology at the University of Wisconsin.
Robin left college after three years to pursue a career as a flight attendant. She flew for ten years and met her husband on a flight. Robin ended that career to begin her current role as a mother of four children. As Robin's children reached high school and college age, Robin wanted to go back to work and decided to open up a small design business.

Robin started her design business four years ago and has been on national television and published in local shelter magazines.

Despite her success, Robin felt that something was missing by not having a design degree or belonging to ASID.

RASC IS PROUD TO ANNOUNCE THE
2008-2009 BOARD
Caryn has been a Rhodec student since 2006, and joined RASC in 2007. She volunteered to help with the Online Education Symposium for the World Days of Design, and is still amazed by how much she learned from that one experience. Not only did Caryn gain valuable knowledge as a newcomer to the profession, but she met and worked with RASC members, especially our Board members. Their energy and commitment inspired Caryn to take a more active role in the organization this year.

Caryn has been married for twenty years, and homeschooled a daughter up until college. She has been a career paramedic, and also works as a freelance medical editor and indexer. She hopes to bring her experience with patient care to interior design in the health care field. She  loves working in historic renovation and preservation, reading  and practicing  yoga and tai chi, and is waiting to travel with her husband now that the nest is empty.

Kim Jahnz is currently working for CA as aTechnical Specialist in the ESM product line, specializing in Network Management Systems. Prior to that, Kim worked for Aurora Health Care, where she was a Lead Systems Management Analyst for the Corporate Enterprise Network, including the implementation, design, and support of CA Spectrum and eHealth. These solutions allowed AHC to monitor and report on all network devices, servers, and applications. Kim developed andi ntegrated solution that is vendor neutral, allowing any data from any source to be fed into Spectrum. This integrated view gives AHC a complete "end-to-end" look at the user experience. In 1999 Kim received Best Honorable Mention from Network World for the 1999 User Excellence Award for her work with ESM. In 2003, Kim received a Lifetime Achievement Award from Aprisma. She founded the Midwest Spectrum User Group, speaks frequently at User Conferences, and her article, "Guide to Network Management," was featured in the March 13, 2006 issue of Network World magazine.

Kim's real passion is for design, and after many years of waiting, in 2006 she started working towards her goal. In 2007 Kim completed a diploma program and became a Certified Interior Decorator and in May of 2007 started the study of Interior Design  with Rhodec.

Aprils involvement with the Rhodec ASID Student Chapter came about shortly after it was formed, serving as Secretary, a role April has now reprised.

Since her return to Rhodec, April has been amazed at what this dynamic group of students is accomplishing, and is gratified and excited to have another opportunity to support the chapter in this capacity.

April has been married to husband Christian for over 13 years now and they are happy guardians of five, freaky felines. Aprils oldest cat, Shadow (pictured with April) has a special place in her heart.
April loves to read, quilt (hand-sewing) and cross stitch, play the piano and violin, ride the Harley with her husband, and get to the beaches of the beautiful Great Lakes as often as possible.
