A FEW DAYS IN
THE GRAMPIANS
Return to What's been Happening
HOME
After our great long weekend at Mount Arapiles, we had the rest of the week for a holiday, and so headed off to The Grampians, a mountain range in western Victoria, where we had booked a cabin for four nights in a holiday park a few kilometres out of the tourist town of Halls Gap.

We spent our mornings doing touristy things like visiting art galleries and potters' galleries, and of course the very good Tourist Information Centre, and then spent our afternoons doing a different bushwalk each day.
One of the highlights of the park we stayed at was the birdlife which was used to people and loved to be fed..  Cooper was the first to take up the challenge, and soon had a Crimson Rosella eating out of his hand.
The first walk we did was a loop walk that started at the outskirts of Halls Gap, then climbed past a waterfall to the summit of Chatauqua Peak,, and back down the other side of the mountain back to Halls Gap.

Here we are at the summit of Chatauqua Peak, on the edge of cliffs, overlooking Halls Gap in the valley below. Our cabin was in a park below the dam wall in the distance.
This Rosella walked all over Brady, taking its time with its food!
