Raluana
Raluana is the name of our property outside Oakbank in the Adelaide Hills, South Australia. We bought the property in 1992, Helen designed the house, and I built it. It is an on-going project and I am always "finishing it off".
Here it is in Autumn of 2000. That's our Rhodesian Ridgeback, Jama, roaming in the yard.
Another look, at the far end of the front yard. This was the same day in Autumn.
And now it's winter, with hail on the ground and a nip in the air. The haycart was being used up until about 10 years ago on a farm on the Flurieu Peninsula. It was always one of Helen's dreams to have one in her garden.
A sunny winter's morning, the birch trees are bare, the flag irises are flowering, and this is one of the views from our front verandah.
Raluana is the name of a village on the island of New Britain in Papua New Guinea, where Helen's grandparents were missionaries.
