This is my poem, but inspired with images from Thay's writing. This was written when I was functioning still as a priest and reflects my feelings regarding a murder that happened in my parish.

"Six times a house shook.

Immortality again

traveled the river

of birth and death."

The news I did not believe.

My heart sank---

he died from his brother's hand.

Today

I did not love you.

Your cruelty freezes me.

Thank God tonight

seeing her eyes

my heart thawed and warmed again.

Love has more strength than disappointment.

With her

I do not regret

riding this flowing river.

I do not ride alone.
