TOGETHER

Early in practice

we learned to bow deeply,

"A lotus to you

a Buddha to be."

The two roses

you gave me today

now stand straight and beautiful

on my altar.

They offer no bow,

they recite no gatha.

Drinking from the same water

they stand as you and I do today.

You are not a "Buddha-to-be",

nor am I.

We have already arrived.

Our delicate and unmistakable beauty

has already blossomed.

I am at home

in you ---

you in me.

We are together! What more can we ask?
