The below paragraphs are things we feel have promise and should be watched
if you are an ole hotrodder still interested in cars. Today, we are not
always encouraged by the American Auto industry, i.e., that's why the foreign
cars have taken over. From time to time there are rays of light and hope
for us Americans. We will endeavor to identify them as they become appearent. ~TVMC
Chevy is Waving the American Flag - Excellent!
I was very happy to see this - but Chevy could be more vocal in their TV commercials
about being American - tell the world - we have the best system of government
and way of life (if you don't like it, please please go somewhere else! - tired of the
GD whiners!) This slogan says: "Buy here Americans and all your friends" ... :) See what
I mean on Chevy's own home page at:
http://www.chevrolet.com/
i.e. "ChevyBowTieSymbol - An American Revolution."
Chevy Advertising/Marketing Department got something right for a change! This is
something that others and TVMC had been advocating for couple of years - patriotism in
Chevy adverstising. ~Bob
A Chevy Sedan Delivery - soon and cheaper?
I have taken the below paragraph from
http://www.gminsidenews.com/futureguide1.htm on
OCT 28, 2005.
"SSR- Being Chevy's halo truck, the SSR is the first to receive the 390 HP truck
version of the 6.0L LS2 in 2005. After 2005, the SSR's fate is tied to the
extended Trailblazer platform that it is built on. There are rumors of a panel
wagon version of the SSR that would be much cheaper than the hardtop convertible
version. No timeframe is available though."
Personally this excites me. The GM engineers must have been let out of their cage!!!
A panel truck on a hotrod frame (even though it is
Unibody). It even has a the modifiable V8 with rear wheel drive - hmmm and most
importantly - most importantly - is the promise of it being cheaper - this is the
operable word - cheaper! If it turns out to be less than 20K with at least a 350
having RWD - I'll buy one immediately. I do not care about the amenities; strip all
that crap out of there. That stuff is for
those yuppie GM Marketing and Accounting Beamer types. Let's get back to a
stripped down muscle of the 60's class car on a neat platform. Originally, I was not
too enthused about the SSR pickup – but I could see for those into that
kind of thing – great – still a little too pricey for me (even with the GM employee
discount). Now - what about an SSR
Nomad (a "2"DR!!!) with a 4-bolt big block (just put some windows and a rear seat in
the SSR Sedan Deliverly ... ;)
- where's my wallet? – ca-ching ca-ching! Andy, we got to watch this one. ~Bob
Impala with RWD and Optional V8?
Also take a look at the following page for news on the Impala
http://www.gminsidenews.com/futureguide1.htm
Chevy should move the time frame up on this - and only if there is a 2DR model -
otherwise forget about it. The competion it tight! This is
something that others and TVMC had been advocating for couple of years - RWD.

Background music on this page is to be decided but for now is
"Louie Louie" by Kingston Trio (a public domain synthesized version) ~TVMC
