My Two Cents on the Issues & Arguments of Today
I'm sure not everyone will like all of this, but as I said from the start: you've been warned:

Abortion: This has to take first place because there are few things I feel so strongly about. It is infanticide, it is an absolutely undefendable evil that has become, as my father says, "a scourge" on the face of America. There can be no justification for the murder of innocent human life. These are not simply collections of fetal matter, they are living, breathing, thinking children. They have baby eyes, baby fingers, baby toes; they eat, breath, think and move just like any other babies. Abortion is also harmful to the mother, causing an increased risk of cancer. Just because "Uncle Sam" says it is okay, does not mean God must agree. Do not allow people to confuse you into thinking this is some sort of a civil liberty issue, this is a life and death issue. Suppose one of the children whose life was taken by abortion was to grow up and find a cure for cancer? What if one of them was going to bring food to the hungry of the world one day? Someone who supported abortion once asked me if there was anything in the world more pitiful than an unwanted child. I said, "the only thing more pitiful is a dead child."

Stem Cell Research: I am against this one as well. Sure, it seems harmless enough now, but where is the line to be drawn? The best and safest way to avoid this sort of problem is to avoid picking up the pen in the first place. Things like this lead to a mentality that human life is not valuable. We are more than just a collection of scientific specimens, every life is a gift from Heaven and should be treated as such.

The Death Penalty: Only in America can we argue against killing a murderer but defend as sacred the right to kill an innocent child. I do not like the death penalty, but it is amazing how in Texas it takes conviction on TWO capital offenses to be given the lethal injection and yet we still lead the country in executions. I cannot call for the end of the death penalty for such base criminals. I do think there should be more care in determining the guilt of someone who is to be executed. The idea of an innocent person being put to death unjustly is simply terrifying. We should take more care but I can see no justification to end the punishment. As someone once said, 'no one executed for murder ever killed again'.

Globalization: It sounded good at the start, but is taking on a rather unpleasant shape. Take the United Nations for example, if we establish a large world council with state-of-the-art armed forces and so on, how easy would it be for the wrong person to take over and in a single coup rule the world? More simply, I cannot see what great good is accomplished by these things. The League of Nations did not prevent World War II, the UN did not prevent Korea, Vietnam, the Persian Gulf or any of the other conflicts in recent history. The World Bank has put many nations in unbreakable bonds of debt and in many cases all but rules the nation in question and exploits the native population. International cooperation and trade is good, but taken to extremes such things can be dangerous. America has enemies all over the world, how many does Switzerland have? Let's play in our own yard for a while.

The Middle East Crisis: Frankly, on this issue I am sorry America was ever involved to begin with. The Jews and Muslims have been fighting ever since Biblical times and will probably not stop until the Prince of Peace Himself steps down from Heaven and intervenes Himself. Many people have asked why the Muslims of the various radical sects so hate the United States. It is simple: we got involved in their war. With Israel and Palestine in constant conflict, we cannot give aid and support to one side and not expect the other to be angry at us. I am not suggesting that Israel should not be supported, but the Palestinians have a right to freedom just as much as the Israelis. It is wrong for Palestinians to kill innocent Jews just as it is wrong for Israelis to kill innocent Muslims. The simple fact is, no amount of U.S. involvement can force the two sides to stop hating each other and America can work no miracles to bring peace to this part of the world. Only the Jews and the Muslims can resolve to end this continuation of hatred.

Northern Ireland: What men won't do for property! I find it rather distressing that people continue to view this as a religious struggle - if so, the religion certainly is not Christianity. Nationalism is at the base of this problem. It is true, the Irish have suffered greatly over the years, but they now have their independence and must accept that Northern Ireland does not wish to be ruled by them any more than they wish to be ruled by Britain. The United Kingdom has made mistakes in the past, but they are not an oppressive nation today and there is no reason that Britain and Ireland should not be fast friends. There is no simple solution to this problem, people have to learn to put the past behind them and stop raising their children to hate each other for such reasons of pride.
