Come and See
My name is Rev. Bob Clark. I am a pastor in the United Methodist Church, currently under appointment to two churches in the Lower Rio Grande Valley of South Texas.

Located on the US/Mexico border the culture of the Rio Grande Valley is a rich blend of the traditions of both countries. Everyday new immigrants flow across the river creating a constant current of change. We are a people in flux, constantly growing and becoming. It is my belief that wherever cultures collide God is creating something brand new. This is an exciting place to be in ministry.

Of course, we are not with out problems. This county is the poorest in the United States. Over sixty-percent of the adults in our community do not have a high school education. More than thirty-three percent were born in a foriegn country.

All of this provides a host of opportunities to be in service to Christ in the world. Through the mission outreach of the church more than a thousand people have participated in ESL, GED, Computer, Parents helping Parents and other classes since 2002. Our food pantry serves between 75 and 80 families per week. Our home repair initative works on approx. six to eight homes a year; and through the health and wellness program, health screenings and education are provided free of cost.
