June 5, 2009 Update:

2009 Camp Members:

Congratulations to everyone who has registered for the 2009 camp. Camp handbooks will be mailed to all members in the next 2 weeks. The handbooks contain all the information about the camp, a medical release form, directions to Lake Murray State Park & Resort, camp policies, packing checklist, daily schedules, meal menu, and specific information for drumline / colorguard / drum majors. Drumline members will also receive audition music. Please be sure to read through all the information carefully and have your parents sign the medical release form. Make sure to bring it with you on the first day of camp. WE CANNOT ADMIT ANY CAMP MEMBERS WHO HAVE NOT COMPLETED THE MEDICAL RELEASE FORM! You may also download it HERE
. Drumline members and drum majors should make arrangements to bring a MUSIC STAND for use during the week. We will not be providing music stands. Pit and cymbal players should bring a pair of crash cymbals. All other pit equipment will be provided. Snare, tenor, bass drummers should bring your instrument and sticks / mallets. Please check back here for any last minute updates.

So, plan on having an entertaining, educational, and just plain OUTSTANDING 5 days of Rehearsing, Practicing, Recreation, and Fun at beautiful Lake Murray State Park and Resort!

Thanks for your interest in the 2009 Red River Drum & Auxiliary Camp. We are now working on the details for next summer's camp. The camp will be July 13-17, 2009 at Lake Murray State Park in Ardmore, Oklahoma and we hope you will make plans to join us for what we think we be an outstanding week of drumline and auxiliary activities. Keep in mind that the mission of the Red River Drum & Auxiliary Camp is not to teach students their fall marching music or drill routines, but rather to instill solid fundamentals and techniques, and a sense of musicianship and team performance that will ultimately produce higher quality, more experienced drumline and auxiliary performers. This will be accomplished through a daily schedule of warmups, sectionals, mass rehearsals, performances, and educational clinics. We will, however, offer optional private instruction for entire school drumlines, individual colorguard members and drum majors as described in the Camp Details/optional fees.

Students entering 7th-12th grades can look forward to a busy but relaxed atmosphere where they can refine their skills and meet new friends. We ask that students have at least 1 year experience before coming to the camp. Lake Murray State Park provides the perfect backdrop for a week of productive practice, enjoyable entertainment, and recreational activities in one of the midwest's most beautiful state parks.

We will once again be bringing in a DCI (Drum Corps International) drum corps to present clinics/demonstrations and present an exhibition performance. We are thrilled to announce that the BLUE KNIGHTS drum & bugle corps from Denver, Colorado will be visiting the camp this summer! This exciting visit from a Division I drum & bugle corps will give our camp members the opportunity to see first-hand one of the best professional drum corps in America today.

We have arranged to have the entire Lake Murray Lodge and most of the private cabins reserved for our camp.
We are limited in the number of applicants we can accept this coming year since these lodge rooms and cabins can only accommodate a total of 320 people. Therefore, the drumline camp will have a maximum of 185 members; the colorguard camp will have a maximum of 105 members; the drum major camp will have a maximum of 30 members. The earlier you register, the better your chances of being accepted! Applications will be accepted on a first come-first served basis and the registration deadline is June 1, 2009. If you are certain that you want to attend the 2009 Red River Drum & Auxiliary Camp, then be sure to send in your registration form (& payment) as soon as possible to be guaranteed a spot.

Once again we have applied for grants and funding to cover many of the additional expenses involved with the camp, so students will only be asked to pay the tuition fee of $225 (the actual cost for us per student is over $325) This includes all meals, rooms in the lodge and cabins, camp t-shirts, camp handbooks, camp music, entertainment, recreation, DCI drum corps visit, etc.

We will provide chaperones for the entire week and will allow time each day for entertainment and recreation. Campsites and RV sites are also available at the lake and you may contact Lake Murray State Park if you are interested.

In the meantime, have a great year and remember that the registration deadline is June 1. We look forward to seeing you at the 2009 Red River Drum & Auxiliary Camp.
