Because search engine placements are done in order or priority to their newer listings, website experts advise webpage owners to resubmit their websites every 60
days.  This allow the website manager to beat the search engines at their own game and gives you an advantage over your competition.  (Below are a number of other tips on how
to beat the search engines.)

KNOW HOW SEARCH ENGINES WORK, AND YOU CAN BEAT THEIR RULES!

The search engines are the number one tool people use to find what they're
looking for on the web.  There is no better way to build traffic
to your website than to have a high listing in as many search engines
and directories as possible.

UNDERSTANDING SEARCH ENGINES:

The average time between submitting your URL and getting it into the
database seems to be six weeks or more depending on the quality of your site.
In addition, a new submission may expire
very rapidly, even after a month or two because it might get moved down a
few pages and get lost with the rest of the ever growing Internet database.
Most search engines check their databases to see if URLs still exist and
to see if they have been recently updated.  This is the reason your site
should be entered every month or so.

Each document that is found is given a number by the Search engines in their ranking
In regards to the quality of the match to your search query... in other words, a
score.  Relevant scores reflect the number of times a search term appears,
if it appears in the title, if it appears at the beginning of the document
or HTML tags, and if all the search terms are near each other (some
explanations are given in each search engine's help files).  Some engines
allow the user to control the relevance score by giving different weights
to each search word.  One thing that all engines do is use alphabetical
order or a date stamp in their display algorithm.  If relevant scores are
not very different for various matches, then you end up with a default list.
KNOWING YOUR LINKS:
Some search engines find your website by links from other webpages.
Even if you have sent in your URL, your website can be indexed longer
and ranked higher in search results if many links lead to your website.
Links can be important in some search engines in achieving good exposure.

USING THE RIGHT TEXT:

If a webpage lacks descriptive text, then there is little chance that
webpage will come up in the results of a search engine query.

USING THE RIGHT KEYWORDS:

Spend time to research your keywords that will be most important for your
Websites. Then ensure those words are both in your title, Meta Tags and mentioned
at the beginning and bottom of your webpage.  Generally, most people will already
have their keywords present on their webpages but may not also have them
in webpage header and footer.
