Immigration
The Libertarian Party holds that human rights should not be denied or abridged on the basis of nationality and welcome all refugees to our country, and Breanne Brislenn holds that sentiment too.
America has always been a nation of immigrants. Even Thomas Jefferson emphasized this basic part of American heritage, taking note of "the natural right which all men have of relinquishing the country in which birth or other accident may have thrown them, seeking subsistance and happiness wheresoever they may be able, and hope to find them."
Open immigration has major importance of leading to a growing and more posperous America. Open immigration will advance the economic well-being of all Americans, whether they believe that immigrants "steal" American jobs or approve of open immigration. Recent studies have shown that immigrants have a high labor force participation, are entrepreneurial and tend to have specialized skills that allow them to enter under-served markets. Immigration also leads to an increase of jobs available, contrary to what some believe. Immigrants do this by expanding the demand for goods and services by their own consumption, by bringing savings with them that contribute to overall investment and productivity, by being more highly entrepreneurial than native-born Americans and create jobs through the businesses they start, by filling gaps in low and high ends of the labor markets, by producing subsidary jobs for American workers, by enabling threatened American businesses to survive competition from low-wage businesses abroad, and by contributung to increased economic efficiencies mearly by being here..
