The 2002 edition of the Devitt Open was a record-shattering event on many levels. First, the playing field was expanded from the original foursome to Include Dennis and Michael Devitt, as well as Matt Radek. Guest participants who played throughout the tournament for individual rounds included Terry and Ilene Duffy as well as Neil McCumber. Other records set included most clubs destroyed in a Devitt Open (Tom with 2) and most late arrivals to first rounds of the Devitt Open (Pat with his second, breaking his own record of 1.)
The all-time record for best 3-round score was set by Lee, with a final score of 265, with rounds played at Thunderhawk, Klein Creek and Foxford Hills. Lee's 2nd round 85 at Klein Creek also set a new Open single-round record.
